Objet en céramique peinte en demi-cylindre fermé à une extrémité, utilisé dans l'antiquité. Bloqué au genou, il protégeait la cuisse des femmes grecques qui roulaient la laine dessus pour empêcher le suint de souiller leurs vêtements. Vers 500 av J.-C.- époque archaïque à figures noires Face A : scène de gynécée. Face B : Amazones. A l'extrémité, protomé : tête de femme

The
Diosphos Painter
was an Athenian attic black-figure vase painter, many of whose surviving works are on lekythoi. He was first identified by C.H.E. Haspels in her
Attic Black-figure Lekythoi
(Paris, 1936). The Diosphos Painter was a pupil of the Edinburgh Painter, who also trained the Sappho Painter. He is thought to have been active from 500-475 BCE.
