Detail:
Philippe d'Orléans, duc d'Anjou, frère unique du roi Louis XIV (Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 1640-Saint-Cloud, 1701), enfant, de ¾ à droite, portant un manteau d'hermine et les colliers des ordres et tenant le bâton de commandement de la main droite, la main gauche sur l'encadrement, avec des médaillons historiés aux angles, sur les côtés des attributs auxquels s'aggrippent des vipères et une couronne en haut.

(Leiden, 1602 – Antwerp, 8 January 1674) was a painter and a tapestry designer. After training in Antwerp and working in Rubens' workshop he left for France where he was a court painter. He later returned to Flanders where he worked in Antwerp and Brussels. He is mainly known for his portrait paintings, although he also painted some history subjects.
