Detail:
Sophie Blanchard (1778-1819) fut la première femme aéronaute professionnelle. La scène se passe à Paris, probablement au champ de Mars. La manifestation a été commanditée par Napoléon Ier pour célébrer la naissance de son fils, le 20 mars 1811. A cette occasion Sophie Blanchard répandit des faire-part de naissance sur toute la ville. Le dessin peut donc être daté d'après mars 1811.
